I loved this course. I feel more confident and learned a lot... This was probably the best course I've ever taken.
I'm a believer again. Writing can be exciting in just about any context or setting. It's amazing how many bad traditions we stick with simply because "It's always been done that way."
I feel the course was well conducted. I liked the informal atmosphere that was created-it made us participate more openly. I am more confident now to tackle my everyday tasks of writing reports, letters, etc. Thanks.
This was a fabulous course! As always, when you sign up for a course, when the day arrives you wonder if you should devote the time. I'm very glad I did. You are both wonderful instructors who provide clear direction, feedback and examples. The materials are very organized and thorough. The Wordskills that we completed prior to lunch were very helpful. The plain language forms that were shown were eye-opening. Thank you so much for coming and sharing your knowledge with us.
Improving Legal Writing
I found the workshop extremely beneficial, and feel better equipped to practise the art of writing in plain English...The instructors were most helpful and knowledgeable in all areas.
This was a superb workshop. The activivites, homework, and reference materials stimulated my mind and made me aware of my style and writing accomplishments. It was a very enjoyable experience.
The instructors provided excellent encouragement to participants. The instructors gave me further and renewed insight into the CLARITY of writing, increased skill in improving writing, both visually and substantively. An enjoyable two days.
I found the workshop very worthwhile and I will apply the content on a daily basis. There was a nice balance of lecture, theory, and practice. The individual consultation was also valuable. You have provided an impressive collection of resource materials.
I liked the group work. What a terrific way to show that plain language really does work. . . It's overwhelming when I think of all the documents in our office that aren't in plain language . . . I see the plain language process in our office as a long process, but a rewarding one.
Managing Your Reading
My objectives have been met and exceeded. I now have my own proof
that I can read quickly and still retain. This amazes me and
I am changing my definition of "reading". I am now more confident that I can get into my "should" pile of reading and I am quite excited to get to it.
It's reassuring to know that the average reading speed is not as high as I thought it would be. This course made me aware that
I can vary my technique based on the purpose [of reading].
Lots of tips-much appreciated! I realize I can check my progress now that I realise I can anticipate ahead and ignore 30% of the details not relevant to my purpose. Insightful, entertaining, informative, and easily applicable to my job.
